Cake & Prose – Judy Liu

Cake and Prose is back in 2026, and we’re excited to kick the year off featuring local author, Judy Liu. Come join us at Apprentice Creative Space and hear Liu’s work, enjoy songs from our musical guest, Andy Yu—and of course, to eat cake.
Cake and Prose is a unique, free literary event with a focus on genre fiction, local talent, and cake. The ingredients are simple:
- Three stories. An author shares three stories — read by three different actors. These stories could be any genre. They could be short stories or excerpts of a longer work.
- Three songs. A musical performance by a guest artist adds another layer to this night of entertainment. Themes can emerge between the stories and songs.
- One cake. During the intermission, there is cake. Really good cake from a local bakery.
Mix together and enjoy! RSVP below! The event is free, but donations to support Writer’s Garret are greatly appreciated.
JUDY LIU (AUTHOR)
Inspired by her love of Marvel, sci-fi, old Taiwanese dramas, and ridiculous anime, Judy scribbles mini-stories wherever she can (and subsequently forgets them!). She graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, studying history, Asian studies, and education. Judy is not unfamiliar with extensive writing, having published multiple pieces. She spent some time living in rural Japan before working in the legal and compliance sphere. With her debut novel The Vending Portal, Liu hopes to meaningfully add to Asian American literature to further enrich the YA genre.
