Welcome to Late Night Lit: Vibez N Verzuz, where the vibes are lit and the poets definitely come out to spit.

Come get to know 3 of Dallas’ incredible spoken word artists, with performances showcasing skills, vibes and more. Then, witness the highly anticipated first-ever Dallas Is Lit! poetry slam. 8 poets will take to the stage and throw down in a 2-round competition, with the winner taking home a $500 Cash Prize and walking away with the title of Dallas Is Lit Poetry Slam Champ 2025. Come get lit on the late night tip! This event is for 18+

About The Performers

Cali (Spotlight) is a full-time student and part-time ER receptionist. After high school, she joined the U.S. Navy and now serves as a Petty Officer Second Class in the Navy Reserves. A Fort Worth native, she previously lived on the West Coast, before returning to Texas and reconnecting with her roots. Cali is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and hopes to earn a Master’s in the same field.

 

Wayne Henry (Host) was born and raised in South Central LA, where he was exposed to a melting pot of different cultures. He moved to Dallas TX in 2008, and since 2017, has been regularly recognized throughout the region for his poetry, including the 2023 Southern Fried Underground Champion title, among several others.

 

Lyrik Hunter (Spotlight Host) is a published author, singer/songwriter, actress, recording artist, host, teaching artist, mentor and more. Conquering her stage fright in 2020, she has since developed a significant following, traveling internationally to perform her work. She is the former CEO/Co-Owner of “The Brown Sugah Lounge,” and represents 1/3 of the Denton Black Film Festival’s Poetry Slam 2024 Champion Team, S.I.P. (SISTAS IN POETRY). Kauser (Spotlight) is a queer, South Asian Muslim who takes pride in how her various identities interact and create a mosaic of life and connections. Whether she is in her 9-5 as an educator, performing as a poet, or volunteering her time, Kauser stays true to her hope for humanity and a full exploration of life. Kauser has lived in California, Florida, England, Washington state, and now resides in Dallas, Texas.

 

Phallen the Artist (Spotlight) is a Dallas native poet and props artist. She is a graduate of Harding University with a bachelor’s in theatre. Phallen’s writing has been mentored through the illustrious Dallas Youth Poets and has performed throughout DFW and beyond. Her events and work can be found on Instagram @phallen.theartist
