SUMMARY:Cake & Prose: Shaun Hamill
DESCRIPTION:Cake and Prose returns to Fort Worth! On Saturday\, October 18th at 7 p.m.\, we’re featuring acclaimed local author\, Shaun Hamill. Come join us at Arts Fifth Avenue to hear readings from Hamill’s work\, to enjoy songs from our musical guest\, Rachel Gollay—and of course\, to eat cake. \nCake and Prose is a unique\, free literary event with a focus on genre fiction\, local talent\, and cake. The ingredients are simple: \n\n\n\nThree stories. An author shares three stories — read by three different actors. These stories could be any genre. They could be short stories or excerpts of a longer work.\nThree songs. A musical performance by a guest artist adds another layer to this night of entertainment. Themes can emerge between the stories and songs.\nOne cake. During the intermission\, there is cake. Really good cake from a local bakery.\n\nMix together and enjoy! RSVP below! The event is free\, but donations to support Writer’s Garret are greatly appreciated. \nABOUT SHAUN HAMILL \nShaun Hamill (he/him) received his BA in English from the University of Texas at Arlington\, and his MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Shaun has published two novels to date\, A Cosmology of Monsters and The Dissonance (both from Pantheon Books)\, and has two licensed fiction novels forthcoming from Titan Books: Alien: Perfect Organisms and Solomon Kane: Suffer the Witch. His fiction has appeared in Carve and Come Join Us By the Fire 2. His nonfiction has appeared at Crimereads and Tor Nightfire and he is a frequent cohost on The Dungeons & Dragons Lorecast. Learn more about Shaun at https://www.shaunhamill.com/. \nABOUT RACHEL GOLLAY \nRachel Gollay (she/they) is a Fort Worth-based singer-songwriter. Rachel lives with her wife\, rescue greyhound\, cats\, and backyard chickens.
